Enrico, Rick,
It seems that VSX does not open DLLs (in editing mode) by default. Some setup may be required (?).
It was working here as I had a Visual Express C++ installed previously, so probably it respected the previous association.
So I guess that in order to get it working you have to install a Visual Express C++ first, then install the redistributable integrated IDE.
As you see, Microsoft loves simplicity...

There are some 'good' and 'not so good' attributes of VS 2008 .. To be honest ( and not to hurt anyones feelings ) .. VS 2008 is a big chunk of code to load+Express C++ just to get a 32 bit Resource ( forms ) editor..
Now with that said .. on the flip-side, I do a lot of SQL server queries and structure manipulations and VS 2008 seems to have the ability to connect ( as easy as sql server studio 2005 ) in one nice and 'handy' place. I see also where there is a data layout ( er diagram ) function that ( looks like ) you can show your primary, secondary keys, table structures and relationships .. in sorta a Visio type diagram.
Also there is a connect ( wizzard ) to connect ( I think ) to other data SQL sources .. like Oracle ( perhaps ) .. I have not been successful in getting the combination of Oracle Client and ADO connection strings to get close to working .. perhaps VS 2008 would help me there.
I think there is a viable use for VS 2008 and FiveWin\(x)Harbour .. but I have a hard time swolling the baggage it takes to get the forms editor to work and be a useful Resource editor ( for me ) ..
Please forgive me ( if I am wrong ) here as I hope I have loaded the VS 2008 correctly and the above short-comings are incorrect ..
But for now .. I will continue to watch this subject with interest !!

Thank you for the link.
OT: on
The Buggles - Video Killed The Radio Star http://youtube.com/watch?v=6LB6Q_oycfQ
off
After hearing the interview with Ken Levy I bet VSX will become the standard IDE for FiveWin.
Who bets again?
Regards,
Otto

Antonio and Everyone,
Here is a video; 'How Do I Create a Language Service?'
http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/bb851701.aspx
"In this video, Hilton Giesenow illustrates a simple working Language Service. He begins by building a simple scanner for colorising based on regular expressions, then expands on this to implement the Managed Babel framework, integrating MPLex and MPPG directly into the Visual Studio build as well."
It is 27 minutes long and most of it was over my head. It became very apparent that you need to have a lot of VS and C# experience even to understand what he is talking about. This video only covers setting up the language and providing syntax highlighting. It does not cover the lexer and parser that you need, nor Intellisense and other topics.
It looks like it will be quite some project to setup VS for FWH.
There are also lots more videos here:

James
