Future FWH with xHarbour

Post by Carlo Stonebanks »

My client's development environment is the xHarbour June BETA. As far as I know, xHarbour is planning a release in July.

when trying to link with FWH libs, I get the following error when running the app:

Code: Select all

'WINDOW.PRG' was compiled by older version, PCODE version 7 is no longer supported - Please recompile.
I believe this is a compatability problem.

1) Is the new release compatible with whatever PCODE version the new xHarbour will support?

2) Can I use the xharbour BETA builder to temporarily rebuild the FWH libs so that I can continue to develop? If so, is this process documented?

3) Although I've had FWH for a few months, I haven't had much occasion to use it yet so I'm still pretty new to the way things work here (please forgive the stupid questions). A new release was announced, but I can't see how I can download it. Can you explain?

Thanks,

Carlo

Carlo,

xHarbour changes its pcode from time to time, and its not backwards compatible.

So you should use the xHarbour build that we provide with a specific FWH build. In case that you want to use a different xHarbour build then you have to recompile all FWH PRGs yourself. We don't recommend doing this as it may be a source of potential problems if its not properly done.

In case you want to do it at your own risk then you may contact xHarbour.com and they will provide you a Harbour builder project to rebuild FWH FiveHX.lib

When you buy a product or an upgrade from us, you get two months free upgrades. Simply use the login and password that we provided you by email
regards, saludos

FWH / xHarbour

The answer to your question is Yes, the current xHarbour builds require the current FWH build.

The position of xHarbour.com is that you should keep all 3rd party products which you use with their program ( ie. FWH ) current.
