Considering moving to Korea to build FiveTouch

Post by Antonio Linares »

Dear fiends,

There is nothing concreted yet, but I have been talking with my dear friend Charles (Oh Chul) and maybe I may go to Korea to build a new product for the Android and the iPhone/iPad.

I had a strong idea of it in my mind by the end of past year when my father died, I divorced, and had a complete change in my life.

I have been many months alone and now I feel I am recovering, step by step and slowly, and these conversations with my dear Charles are the sign that soon these projects may become a reality. Charles is an expert with Android and iOS and my idea is to build a kind of modern dBase for the tablets and phones, so there is no need to use Apple or Google development tools. The idea is to develop from the app itself. It will allow the execution of PRGs with a FWH syntax and also those PRGs will be encrypted if desired. I also have already a name for it "FiveTouch", so let see if the universe provides me the help and the strength to make it a reality with the great help of Charles :-)

We are just talking by now but I wanted to share it with you :-)
regards, saludos

Antonio,

Yes, I know, but I guessed it may be easier to have Fiveweb, I don´t know.

In any case, it´s a great news.

I find this exciting news too. It seems everyone wants to do everything from their phone now. It's sink or swim time for us.

Why move to Korea though. With email and Skype you can work from anywhere. Of course, maybe you want to visit Korea, or just have a change in your life. That is something else.

I will follow these developments with interest.

James,

I have been already in Korea (Seoul) few years ago working on a project for 40 days. Fortunately it was a success :-)

I could do it by Skype but being in site working together will surely speed up its development. I need to focus on it and put all my energy on this work and being there phisically will help me. Thats how I feel it :-)

Then I say go for it. Personally, I love to travel too. Its great to meet new people and learn about different cultures and ways of life. Fascinating.

And there is nothing like a change of scenery to get your creative juices flowing.

Antonio,

Many of my clients ask about using tablets with my Windows based program. Of course they can use Microsoft tablets, and the prices have come down a lot. However, they buy droid tablets because they are cheap and expect we can provide them with a solution.

It might be nice to have a tool that allows those tablets to interact with our data. We could write subroutines that allow for certain activities.

I know it would be easier if we had SQL, but the thought of converting my primary app, and all of its complexities, to SQL is more than I want to do at this stage in my life. However, I'd be happy to engage with a product that can work with our .dbf files.
