Default sound running wowexec.exe [Solved]

Post by Enrico Maria Giordano »

Dear friends, since a couple of days I get a default sound any time a 16 bit program is run. Poking around, I found that it happens if I run wowexec.exe.

Any ideas (Windows XP)?

Thank you in advance.

Dear Enrico,

I don't use XP anymore. Ocasionally I install it in VirtualBox for some specific testing.

Have you googled about it ?
regards, saludos

Enrico,

Have you recently installed some new software ?

Have you installed a Windows update ?

Try to restore it from a restore point from some days ago. Thats helps sometimes.
regards, saludos

Make a backup before then try it.

Important data should always be copied to a safe place. Even better: Never keep important data just in your computer :-)

I know it and always keep a backup external hard disk updated. But how can I know if and which files are deleted or altered? Should I restore all my files after having restored from a restore point? I would prefer not to do it.
