RELEASE FONT oSayFont

Is it still necessary to release FONTs explicit.

Otto,

Fonts use a counter DATA to be reused, and only when the counter is zero then the font is destroyed.

So, yes, you should issue a RELEASE FONT oSayFont to decrease the counter
