Dear Sir,

We have developed the software on the following platform :

Fivewin for Harbour ver 2.5
Harbour for Borland C Compiler (downloaded from your Site only)

Our application is for Retail Outlets / Department Stores & runs very effectively for IBM's / Epson's / NCR's Point of Sale (POS) machines.

Problem :

The problem we are facing is about the Customer Display which is connected to the COM1 port & we can display any Message on this (20 chr x 2 line) pole display which is working fine on PC's having Win 98 as OS.

But, the same EXE file is not working on Pc which is having the OS as Win XP / Win 2000 Professional, the Screen remains blank !! some times the application / PC gets hanged also.

i am unable to understand the problem ?

so please guide us on :

How to display the Message on Customer display's line 1 & line 2 (20 chr each) on Pc's having Win XP / Win 2K as Operating Systems ?

Is there any specific change required to configure the COM Port under Win XP / Win 2K ?

Is there any thing related to the Registry options ?

How to set the right parameters for COM port, using fivewin's Com port functions ( we are not using the xHBComm Lib)

Again I repeat,

The Application / EXE file which is working perfectly OK on WIN 98 PC,
But, it is not at all working on OS as Win XP / Win2k (the hardware parameters & the PC also remains the same (we have a option of Multiple boot with either Win 98 / Win XP in the startup)

So, guide us urgently !

Thanks in advance

Vijay,

FWH 2.7 July 2006 build has important changes on COM management functions. We suggest you to upgrade.

If you send us a small and self contained sample, then we can confirm you if it works ok on XP/NT using it. Thanks,
