Fast Report´s future

Post by mgsoft »

Good morning,

I hope you all feel well in these hard times. Let's hope that technology will also help find the solution to the pandemic.

As you know, Microsoft has made the announcement that soon Windows will no longer support 32-bit versions, as it did with 16-bit. I am concerned about this with Fast Report, as we use Sergey's product and it only works in 32-bit. I know that O Z S has continued the product, but unfortunately their technical support is not good and they have no plans to have a 64-bit version, as it seems that they haven't achieved it yet with X-ailer.

I wonder if any of you, or even Fivetech, has explored the feasibility of continuing Sergey's work in order to have a 64-bit version.

Thanks a lot!
Saludos,

Eduardo

Eduardo, that's why I switched back to EASYReport yeas ago.

I think if we invest as a group energy we should improve the few little things in the EASYREPORT designer.

Best regards
Otto

Otto,
ER has serious problems, maybe that's fine for you
for us instead they are not good,
we cannot give the customer a non-functioning product
I continue the explanation with Otto in the box in private
I use : FiveWin for Harbour August 2020 (Revision) - Harbour 3.2.0dev (r1712141320) - Bcc7.30 - xMate ver. 1.15.3 - PellesC

Hello,
A friend asked me for an EASYREPORT sample.
Once I made a test with yunus.prg.
Here you can download the program.

Thank you very much Otto, but EasyReport does not work well: the texts at the bottom are mounted and overlap each other.

It's what I've been saying for years, but nobody wants to listen to me,then also the management of the controls on the areas are not visually correct
I struggle to do a small test, in an application there are many prints and types of printouts, not only the simple lists, but there are invoices and other types that would take many months to make them
I am sorry that Linares spent 8000 euros for ER, for a product that is not worth 100 euros for me
But I tell you it is possible to create a good product entirely with fwh sources, but I cannot specify here how:
I am not capable but there are those who are capable skillfully

Hello Eduardo,
I am glad you try EASYReport .
Can you please post your VRD files and a sample how to run.
This seems to me as you do not have checked "Top depends on previous areas" in Area properties.

Best regards
Otto

Silvio,
-> not worth 100 euros for me
This is totally ok for you.

I'm delighted.
I used a lot of report generators, but in the end, there are always problems with third-party products.

Since the preview of Fivewin has improved so much: export, PDF, etc. there is no reason not to take EasyReport.

The few little things in the designer can be easily solved if a few of us participate.
I have my EasyReport tools, and the users can also use the designer.

-> areas are not visually correct
I have a zoom build on my EasyReport designer. All is working fine.
Best regards
Otto

Eduardo,
I saw that pagebreak is not included in this demo source.
Best regards,
Otto

Here is a sample:
PRINTAREA 5 is for footer
PRINTAREA 7 for header of the following page

Code: Select all

IF oVRD:nNextRow > oVRD:nPageBreak
   nSeite := nSeite + 1
    PRINTAREA 5 OF oVRD   ;
      ITEMIDS    { 100 } ;
      ITEMVALUES { ALLTRIM( str( nSeite ) ) }
    PAGEBREAK oVRD
    PRINTAREA 7 OF oVRD   ;
      ITEMIDS    { 120 } ;
      ITEMVALUES { dtoc( date() ) }
   PRINTAREA 6 OF oVRD
   PRINTAREA 2 OF oVRD
 ENDIF

This is not true the Preview has not improved indeed there are many problems in fact I use the TPreview but I have also linked another file where I change some methods in Override just because they have problems.

OVERRIDE METHOD BuildButtonBar IN CLASS TPreview WITH PreviewBuildButtonBar
OVERRIDE METHOD BuildListView IN CLASS TPreview WITH PreviewBuildListView
OVERRIDE METHOD BuildMenu IN CLASS TPreview WITH PreviewBuildMenu
OVERRIDE METHOD SaveAsMenu IN CLASS TPreview WITH PreviewSaveAsMenu
OVERRIDE METHOD PrintersMenu IN CLASS TPreview WITH PreviewPrintersMenu

you probably have another Preview class or you don't tell us the truth.
There are people like Emg who prefer to use the old version of rpreview because of the many problems that tPreview has

What should we participate if in many years I have not managed to have the right sources (those of timm's reportdeisgner) and not those modified by CristoBal & Company
you have no idea what you're saying.
if I have to make a report and it takes me three days because with the mouse I can't make a simple and linear box of reports
and I have to do many many
how many days do you think I have to spend on ER to create all the reports?

>I have a zoom build on my EasyReport designer. All is working fine.
you said right you have a custom zoom, I don't see it in the sources and then first you say ".... if a few of us participate ...." and then you don't enter the changes made in the ER sources
here it does not work well, do not say bullshit in this forum, I have always told you what problems there were with ER, nobody listened to me
in the gif you put I think it's an invoice for a hotel, right?
we see the last two areas that are not uniformly equal in length to the other areas

I have lost many afternoons many years ago with ER 2.0,
I have wasted time and customers and I have not concluded anything,
believe me it is not a product to use and in an application you must also enter the designer where the user can create personalized documents
A customer who knows it does not buy a management software without a visual designer inside
and the first thing he asks is "Can I customize my prints?"

then if I am forced I prefer to use fast reports at least I worked for the school in fact all the reports of all the programs of the Italian government use fastreport, I just have to understand how it works with dbf
I use : FiveWin for Harbour August 2020 (Revision) - Harbour 3.2.0dev (r1712141320) - Bcc7.30 - xMate ver. 1.15.3 - PellesC

Silvio,
http://forums.fivetechsupport.com/viewt ... =3&t=28842

Since May 2016 it is open source:

FiveTech is now the EasyReport owner and we made it open source:
https://bitbucket.org/fivetech/easyreport
I can only tell you that for me it is the right solution. I prefer to use FIVEWIN over the build-in script languages in the other report generators.

André, with his contribution to oReport for you, reminded me an old idea.
I will see if it is possible to automatically generate VRD definition files and the prg code from xBrowse.

That would be insane.

Best regards
Otto
