But I wonder, are these prices realistic today in 2013? We speak of a market where many users are more than happy with Windows 7 (or even XP), and where Windows 8 has encountered a relatively strong resistance from users.

Certainly Microsoft has sold 60 million licenses of Windows 8, but the company does not say is that those are the licenses that were expected to be sold at least with new equipment, because it has become obvious that many do not want to pay so much money (or even any amount) for Windows 8.

So we're in a moment in history where PC sales are falling, not rising, and where it is now possible to buy a very good tablet as Nexus 7 for only $ 200, or even an iPad mini for U.S. $ 329 .

Even Mac users (who typically pay more for their teams) pay only between $ 20 and $ 40 dollars for new versions of their operating systems, and get everything they contain a "Pro" version of Windows.

Or in other words, Microsoft is not causing the entry easier for consumers to Windows 8, and given the current market trend towards other types of devices and operating systems, this "not cool" as Bart Simpson would say ...
